Vampire Species
In this realm there are various incarnations of vampires.  Some with afflictions of sunlight, some without.  Some with the need to drink blood, some without.  There are different species. You honestly can't think there is just ONE kind of vampire now...how could they have survived through out the years without being able to branch off.
Blood Drinkers
Blood Drinkers fall into two categories.  Those who must hide from the sun and those that can walk about freely. The main thing that links them together is the blood lust.  The need to feed.
Hiders Revealers
They must stay out of the sunlight.  They sleep during the day as a lethargy comes over them pulling them down into a deathlike sleep.  Most sleep in coffins or in places where they will be assured that no sunlight will harm them. 
They need to feed on blood to sustain their energy.  The more they feed the more powerful they can become.  With age, powers come to some of them.  Again it all depends on their family line and if anything has happened in their past.		 These vampires can walk out in daylight.  Often referred to as Day Walkers they possess all the same characteristics as normal vampires only they can still function in the normal mortal world.  They don't need to shy away from the sun.  Though, as with most they do wear very strong sunglasses as their eyes are still susceptible to the harsh UV rays even more so than mortal eyes.
They come with powers as they age depending on their family background. They must feed on blood to sustain their energy also.
Both species of Blood Drinkers are vulnerable to the same methods of being killed.  Decapitation, the shattering of their heart, being incinerated.  Some of them still hold onto the doctrine that Holy objects will kill them.  Hiders have lost their ability to be seen in mirrors.  Both species elders can transform into mist or a wolf depending on their powers.  Though this usually happens after about 700 years of living. The younger species have not been able to not go mad from the transformation and often have to be killed.
Immortal Ones
The Immortal Ones are the Royal Elite of Vampires.  This species seems to have been around for many millenniums.  One such case is reported to have been around before the first Ice Age.  During their time on Earth they have learned to adapt to the changing times.  Often called the chameleon of the vampire world, they do not need blood to survive.  Some had even developed an elixir in place of blood and only need it about once a month or once a year.  Depends again on how old the vampire is.  The Immortal Blood line is the strongest and tied closely with witches and warlocks.  Often they are also reported to be dependence of Gods.  (ed note-Some believe that these Immortal ones were the first offspring of the gods though some might have come from another world.)

The Immortal Ones function just as well as mortals.  Though they have powers beyond the Blood Drinkers.  Their strength is ten times that of a Elder Blood Drinker and only the youngest of Blood Drinkers seem to be lack the knowledge to not get an Immortal angry.  There have been no known cases that a Blood Drinker has ever killed an Immortal.

There life span is unknown.  So far no reports have been given of an Immortal being killed by any means.  It is believed that the only they can be killed is by self will.  Just not wanting to live any longer.  This belief is just theory though.
